Taproot Lane is a group of family run businesses. We are third-generation small business owner/operators with a portfolio of specialty manufacturing and service companies. We are committed to putting people first, and building companies that serve their customers, employees, and surrounding communities.
Charlie Grigg
About us
Charlie Grigg had a long career as a CEO, owner, and board member across many specialty manufacturing and aerospace businesses. Notably, he was the President and COO of Watts Industries, Chairman and CEO of SPS Technologies, and most recently the Chairman of the Board for Penn Engineering until 2023. He is now retired and spends as much time as possible gardening, golfing, and enjoying his family. He advises on Taproot Lane’s various business ventures.
Don Grigg, Charlie’s son, has spent his career as an owner/operator in specialty manufacturing. Don is currently the CEO and co-owner of Native Watercraft, Hurricane Kayaks, and Accuform Polymers Inc., a family of specialty plastics manufacturing businesses based in North Carolina. These businesses represent Taproot Lane’s current operating portfolio.
Tom, Lindsay, and Connor represent the third generation continuing to pursue family entrepreneurship. Lindsay brings a broad range of experience working with small businesses and startups as a marketing manager, COO, and general manager. Most recently, she managed business growth and operations at an international B2B technology business. Tom is a Chemical Engineer by training and held various engineering and business roles in the specialty chemical industry prior to receiving his MBA from Harvard Business School. Recently he co-founded a healthcare technology company based in Massachusetts.
In Taproot Lane, we continue the tradition of owning, operating, and building small businesses. Our goal is to be involved in daily operations to promote growth and enduring relationships with employees, customers, and our surrounding communities.

Introduction
Before anything else, we want to get to know you. We want to understand your story, what has motivated you to build this business and what your plans are moving forward. This is also a time for you to get to know us and decide if we would be the right fit to care for your company and employees.

Initial Assessment and LOI [3 weeks]
Assuming mutual interest, we will take a few weeks to learn more about your business with the goal of providing a non-binding letter of intent and a framework to move forward.

Due Diligence [8-10 weeks]
Once we have mutually agreed upon a letter of intent, we will work with you to build a growth and transition plan that is compatible with your personal, economic, and professional goals.

Closing [4-6 weeks]
In the last phase, we will finalize legal documentation, financing sources, and deal terms. Once the transaction has closed, we will work together to ensure a seamless transition of ownership to continue the work of building the business for the long term.
